Questionable Contributions

The only thing I can really think of that is truly American, and nobody else in the world is doing, is country music. And that sucks. If someone can think of something else (and don’t give me the idealistic bullshit like the Bill of Rights, which also isn’t uniquely American), leave a comment and we can talk about it.

    Grits
    The USMC
    The Constitution
    Talk radio
    the Wild West

    ad infinitum

    What’s wrong with idealism?

I will concede Grits, though I’m putting them, along with the Wild West, in with country music into Redneck Culture. The Constitution was drawn heavily on the base of English common law, as would befit a start-up nation.

    Good call-out on the USMC.

Talk radio is going on world-wide, I know of three different talk radio stations in the UK alone, not to mention the thousands of people that do talk radio shows over the internet.

Idealism is fine in small doses. It is that glorious lack of common sense that starry-eyed idealism sometimes afflicts that I take issue with. But I’m living in the South and have to put up with it more than most.
